I give the writers 10 minutes of the next episode to correct the...mistake perpetrated in this episode or I'm out. Because that was straight out character derailment.

People who watched this episode KNOW what I'm talking about.

EDIT: Having some time to digest this episode, I'm actually not angry anymore for one reason: I just got punk'ed. The writer's were looking to get my sort of reaction.

Other than that, I liked the episode, and am looking forward to seeing how the conflict that's been set up plays out.

Last week, I was heisitantly excited about the new season. This episode made me feel like the horrid sophmore slump of Heroes second season is over and done with.

Of course, given the plot developments that keep on coming, that's not to say that it all can't go horribly wrong. For example, I think the tightest tiperope the writers are walking concerning their plot arcs is the new Sylar plotline. I mean, the potential of him and HRG being partners (and--and in the previews <strike>Sylar</strike> Gabriel being domestic in Scar!Peter's sucktastic future! Did you see that ridiculous apron!?) is made of tension and snarky dialouge. Bennet might actually be the ticket to what I suspect the writer's were trying to do in Volume Two: humanize Sylar, something we havn't seen comvincingly since Seven Minutes to Midnight in Volume One.

Like I said though, exploring Sylar's character is going to be really tricky (if not outright impossable) without making him a complete Karma Houdini. He's an unrependent serial killer...but actually, this just might be the key. Compared to the other villians? He's actions are actually kinda small fry. He's highly dangerous, but compared to the horror of unleasing the Shanti virus or nuking New York? Small fry.

Now, about the actually episode--

Ali Larter did a great job with her scenes, making Tracey feel similar to Nikki--but at the same time, be a completly different person. Given the information Micah dug up about them being born in the same hospital, devilered by the same doctor, I'm gonna go with Tracey actually being Jessica. Given the history of the Company (Linderman kept complete files on both D.L. and Nikki remember) both the twins were a result of experiments into abilities.

What said experiments are actually trying to prove is another thing.

Also, I really like where their taking Claire's character. To be completely invulnerable is one thing--but how do you stop being a victim?

I love the new dynamic Daphne brings to Hiro and Ando though. While I disapprove of the wedge being driven between the two boys, the scene in the theater was hilarious.

And Peter is a complete puppy as always. The future sounds horrible by the little bits we've been fed, but how horrible does it have to be to make Future!Peter the way he is? I'd bet money that it was something that happened to Nathan. Because whatever happened to him in the future...well, shooting his own brother is better then what that future holds right?

(But of course, Future!Peter forgot the Butterfly Effect. There's no telling how deep this rabbit hole is going to go.)

Here's looking forward to next week! Whatever Matt is tripping on ought to be an intresting experience, and we get to return to Mohinder, who's getting his Mad Scientist groove on.

Um, wow. I have a Livejournal?

Okay, I jest, but it really has been a long time since I've updated this thing, and I've never been all that active a poster. I'm not the most social person in the first place, not to mention I've always been so distracted.

I'm in college now, and even looking back to when I first started this journal, I'm taken aback by how...immature I was. I've grown as a person since then, but I feel like I personally have never really reflected that in this place.

I'm going to try and change that...again. Because I've been in this place before, and I have tried to come out and make friends on the Internet with very limited success. I know I've let people down in those attempts, making friends, trying to commit to something, then dropped off the face of the earth. My attempts at RPing come to mind.

But I'm not an emo kid. I've learned from my attempts, and I'm willing to try again. I entertained the though of abandoning this journal, and setting up shop somewhere new. But the changes LJ has made make this idea distasteful. So for the time being, I've put a lot of my older entries behind a friends-lock, and private-locked others. Maybe I'll unlock them someday, but for right now...I want as fresh a start as I can get.

The best time is the now, after all.

I am now officially a graduate from high school!

It makes me really happy, I've worked so hard through four years and after that last push with Finals, and making sure to pass Algebra, I wasn't sure I'd ever get out. But I did.

They held the ceromony out on the football field (514 graduating seniors!) and thankfully the rain cleared up long enough for us to get through graduation. It actually got quite pretty out, to tell the truth. All in all it was great. My Dad couldn't show up but Mum and my sister were there. The speeches were not too long, and aside from a beachball or two (how do they sneak those in?) all the seniors behaved. And afterward, I even got interviewed by the local TV station!

The only thing I regret is wearing such high heel's. Since they close the gate and lock you out if you don't make it by a certain time (7:00 in this case) most of us girls were stuck standing for an hour with our heel's sinking into the dirt. Ouch.

I don't regret showing up though. You only got four seconds to walk across the stage, but I earned those four seconds.
<lj:music>Soul Meets Body - Death Cab For Cutie</lj:music>

Well, I went to my cousin's wedding yesterday. It was the first one I had ever attended, and I liked it. They held it at one of uncle's boathouse (my family is so extended, I can't keep them all straight!) outdoors by the river. I got a chance to see a lot of family I hadn't seen in a long time, as well as meet people who last saw me when I was a baby. As for the weeding itself: The reverend stumbled over a few of his lines and the groom and bride couldn't stop giggling, but I felt really happy for them and in all it was a beautiful ceromony.

The food was excellent too. A++

But yeah, I think life is starting to get better. My midterms were Wenesday last week and then we had the rest of the week off because the teachers were going to be forced to attend workshops. My mom hated it, and she told me that she learned absolutly nothing. But I think we both agree the first nine weeks were hell on both of us, so as a result the next nine weeks will be better.

Also, as a treat we finally bought the complete first season of Heroes! We plan to marathon all the episodes sometime soon.

BURN MY DREAD: Thoughts on Persona 3

<lj:music> Subete No Hito No Tamashii No Tataka - Persona 3 OST</lj:music>

Atlus, I hate you as much as I love you.

That ending was gorgeously beautiful and emotionally satisfying to me in a way I have not felt in a long time. When I first got this game I was miffed that anyone outside Japan once AGAIN got shortchanged of an add-on (Persona 3: FES). I don't feel that way anymore. The game's ending completely eliminated that desire.

Persona 3 is open-ended in a way that you actually believe the writers knew what they were doing instead of the all-too-often feeling they went, "Shit! How are going to end this?! " and slapped together one. And that counts for any media. With Persona 3‘s ending, you can come away thinking that he either died or that he lived. I can see the merits in both points of view even though I have my preference.

But yeah, the story. A bit slow in places, but quite riveting when it got going and at times shocking (Ikusuki and The December Full Moon event come to mind). While it doesn't have the thickest plot, the characters that drove that made one of the best rides a game has ever given me. And what characters they were! I loved every single one of them, from the main character, who I dug up his "official name" for my play-though: Minato Arisato (I imagined him to be an intelligent, calm, and stoic but still quite kind and understanding) to Koromaru. They had great interaction with each other and they mattered in the storyline. Every character grew and was examined as the year went by.

Like Mitsuru. She's one of the strongest females I have ever come across. She's strong, capable, commanding, the true leader of S.E.E.S and she stays that way. Though she lets the main character take a leading role into Tartarus and she obviously values his opinion there is no doubt that she is always "first among equals". Definitely a huge step forward for female videogame characters.

Hell, you can even count Tartarus as a character of a sort. The place definitely had it's own personality. I don’t know about you, but there's something immensely creepy about it to me because it's wrong. Nothing that structurally insane should be able to stand. Plus, one of it's "levels" looks like it came out of bad 1960's acid trip. Which will give me nightmare's if nothing else.

Also, next play-though I'm leveling to 99 so I can take some sweet sweet revenge against The Reaper for all those times I ran like a little girl away from him. That aside, the place for me never really got boring. The battle system was well-balanced, buffs were actually useful, and the monsters if I wasn't careful would rape me just as sure as I could rape them. The annoying thing though, was that while the monsters had intresting designs...they mostly just swapped pallets to show difference. Bosses made you think strategically. Not to mention the fact I always wondered "How high does it go? What lies at the top?"

I also liked how the issue of time played into the game. It gave you enough time to breath but not to slack off or else when the next full moon game around you would be screwed if you didn't level up enough (Nyx Avatar using Night Queen after I spent all that time whittling down his/her HP. The paaaaaain.)

But finally, what impressed me the most along with the characters in this game was the way it handled it's themes. Persona handles mature topics like death and rebirth beautifully and also incorporates the Arcana and myth without seeming pretentious. Or feeling like it had hit you over the head with a hammer. Names like Thanatos or Nyx draw parallels to their real-world counterparts.

The way they employed the Arcana with the Social Links and the main characters life was my favorite though. As a former (but not completely cured) supernatural buff, it made me fangirl like crazy. Every Social Link dealt with aspect of the Arcana and what that particular card represented. This created the feeling that the main character was going through his own journey, which culminated in Igor using all the S.Link's to create the card the main character used to deal away Nyx. I firmly believe that card was The World, and that means the main character symbolically completed life's journey.

But in the end? I'm a sap, and it all comes down to the characters I feel in love with during the 80 hours I spent with this game.

Which is why I believe that the main character but lived, and after all his and his friends struggles they went out to have fun and celebrate. Maybe they went to eat ramen, or go shopping, or karaoke till they get kicked out of the booth. Because they faced down oblivion and they remember it. Because what matters the most is that while death shadows them all and is the final destination, before you die you must first live. The Fool to The World symbolizes life's journey, but when you reach The World it doesn't necessarily mean that you die, because life is a series of beginnings and ends. You just go back to being The Fool again, having closed one chapter of life and begun another journey.

I primarily blame statistics, since I am so lousy in math. The other's I'm doing alright in; though the homework they assigned the first few weeks was ridiculous. But with statistics, I am so lost in that class it might as well be taught in another language. Staying after, and even going to Saturday school are not helping.

It's really eaten into my time, and I haven't been this exhausted in a long time. I really hope it starts to get better because I miss fandom and having free time.

I did finally manage to completely read A Feast for Crows though finally.
A Bat in the House

THERE WAS A BAT IN OUR HOUSE.

Looking back on it now, even just a few minutes later, it is now the most hilarious thing ever. Mum and I were just finishing watching Survivor on a poorly tuned channel when all of a sudden we heard a chirp-like sound and this brown blur flew over our heads and crashed into the plants on the shelf just above the living room chairs.

My mother jumped to her feet, "Oh my god!" she exclaimed, "It's a bird!"

I had gotten to my feet and was watching the fake plant while Mama talked about opening the back door to let it out. Well, at that momment the 'bird' decided to climb out from behind the plant and hang by its feet on the edge of the shelf.

It was a bat. Cue my mother having a complete freakout. She let out this little girlish scream and grapped onto me. The bat took off and started flying around--which made our dogs (esspecially Callie who's a bird dog) go crazy. Mama whirled us both around as we tried to keep our eyes on it, while at the same time I told her to calm down.

Well, the bat disapeared into the darkness of our late-at-night house. That's when my mother and I (dadadadada~) sprung into action.

"Mama, call Animal Control."
"What the hell is a bat doing in our house?"
"I don't know, but that means there's an opening in our house somewhere letting it get in."
"That is really creepy."
"It's a fruit bat, Mama."
"It's still fucking creepy."

Since aside from a certain glitch in my brain concerning cockroaches, most things that people find creepy--snakes, frogs, snails, spiders, and now I guess I can add bats to the list, don't phase me at all. So I sent Mama to look through the yellow pages for Animal Control to find out what we should do, while still sticking to our plan to try and let it out of the house.

But first I had to relocate the bat. Lily Latte, one of our cats, had been sitting on top of the stairs looking down on the scene. Callie was still looking really excited as well. I knew those two would do a far better job of locating our night visitor than I would>. Sure enough, Molly Mocha, our other cat trotted down the stairs and disappeared into the front room of the house. I followed her.

Well, it paid off--no sooner had I entered the room that I heard the chirps again and the bat burst into flight all around the room. I knocked back Callie who had been right behind me to keep her from jumping up and trying to eat the damn thing while I alerted Mama that I had found it.

"Where?"
"In the Living--Dining--Whatever your're calling it today. The front room of the house."
"OH MY GOD."

By this time the bat had flown and crash landed into quite a few of the room's objects and furniture. I felt sorry for the poor little thing. I know fruit bats are tiny, but I don't think this one was that old at all. But age doesn't mean a thing to Mocha, so I had to pull her by the scruff of her neck to keep her from getting under the couch or behind the chair and eating the bat.

By this time Mama had gotten the door open and we were all ducking our heads as the bat flew aroud. Finally it landed on the tile rightin the front hall. Well, Mama had a newspaper in her hands, so carefuly holding it in two hands, she pushed it under the bat and took it outide, where it flew away. Just as quickly, she was back in the house closing the door after her so the bat wouldn't get back in.

"How the hell did a bat get in our house?" Mama asked looking out the door.
"Check upstairs to see if the door to the attic in my room was open." I replied, since the door in question for some reason always seems to be opening on its own.

She did so, and just a minute later she came down and confirmed that the said door had indeed been open. I told her that that might mean there's an opening somewhere in there that allowed the bat to get in. We'd have to check it out later when there was light.

"That was really creepy" my mother repeated as she settled back into her chair.
"It's a fruit bat, Mama."
"It was Dracula."

But maybe I should check to see if we have a butterfly net, just in case we have anymore creatures of the night (Or should I say brides of Dracula?) up there.

(P.S. My mother is actually pretty cool. Certain situations just turn her into a nervous little-girl. Like a bat in the house.)

Well, Winter Vacation was fun, but it's finally back to school again. Woe.

I had a very good Christmas this year. Though it was smaller then usual, my family and I got to go all the way to Orlando to spend time with my cousins, aunts, and uncles. We didn't go to any parks but instead went to malls and such, as well as Downtown Disney. Struggling at the parks with all the other tourists there for Christmas and the New Year wasn't our cup of tea.

I got a few DS games, some clothes, bookstore cards, as well as J.R.R Martin's A Feast for Crows new in paperback. I also got a Helio for Christmas too. I didn't expect that.

Unofficially, my sister Alecia left me her laptop after we got home, since she has gone off to Australia. She volunteered to work on small organic family farms in exchange for room and board. She'll be there for six months, and she hopes with the money she has she can seethe country. I hope she has a good time; she saved up for this all by herself.

I'm hoping I can do better this year then I did last year. I'm hopefully more mature.

Let's see how it goes. Happy belated New Year, everyone.

OMG SCHOOL IS FINALLY OUT!!!!!!111

Whoever thought that a school scedule where you get out only a few days before Christmas needs to be taken out back and shot. Seriously. It's the twenty-second and I have gotten almost no Christmas shopping done.

Good news is, well, school is out. Also good news is that my mum managed to nab the condo down in Orlando so we're going on vaction for Christmas down there to meet up with reletives. Although there will be no visiting of the mouse down there. Walt Disney World is so insane during Christmas (not to mention the parks get packed to capacity on Chirstmas Day!), that the closest we're getting is probably going to Downtown Disney for shopping, eating, and going to that sweet cinema they have there.

But I have a few days until we get going, so that means I can relax at home, and get all that make-up work my American Lit. teacher gave me done.

And I'm in a icon-making mode. Guess it's time to switch them up again.
